I refuse to move out!!! by cruiser

I refuse to move out!!!

we had a big limb removed from this gum tree because it was growing right over the roof and they have a habit of dropping unexpectedly. Our resident koala sat right where he is while the chain saw was screaming right next him. I think he was making sure they didnt take any more branches as its his favourite tree.
What a different world you live in Chris, fancy having a tame koala bear living in your garden!

Oh my goodness! That's unbelievable that he stayed put during the cutting process. I would've thought the noise alone would've sent him scrambling. What a darling little character. I hope that particular branch wasn't his ultimate favorite. He'll have to pick a new one if it was.

Wow- I always thought they were so shy. He sure does look possessive of that tree though! Good shot!

koala behave in unexpected ways when stressed, they are so different to all other animals. They strangely don't take much notice at all of machinery noise (probably one reason they are so often killed when trees are cut as they sit in the tree and come crashing down with it)
Are you sure this is a boy? Looks a bit 'she' to me :)
I hope you left lots of tree for her/him

@koalagardens We only took off one limb of this tree which was threatening to fall on the roof. It is a favourite for our koalas and sometimes it looks a bit threadbare from all their eating. We have a very large bluegum on the other side of the garden and they like that too. Can you tell if its female just by looking at her face?

glad you enjoyed seeing our Koala. She's not there this morning but hope she will be back soon. See the interesting comment from our expert @koalagardens

I was looking at her chest - doesn't look like there is any scent gland there which only the males have :) The face does look a bit female too, tho that is not as reliable. She is BEAUTIFUL :) You are going to have to really start watching for her and try to get some clear shots of her chest if you can't get to see the other obvious boy bits and keep us posted.

what a sad face. You are indeed lucky to have a koala as a pet, or rather living so close to you. I am sure he will forgive you for cutting the tree and come back with lots of friends for parties
