this strange and interesting lamp was given to me at the weekend by my 98 year old BFF. She had always said it would be mine one day as I admired its quirkiness. Now in a nursing home she had it by her bed but a few days ago she was not feeling the best and she said I must come and get the lamp and take it home. It was made in the 1930's by a very artistic neighbour of hers. I am pleased to say my friend has picked up again today and I have told her how happy the lamp is in my craft room and how I treasure it.
What a wonderful story you've shared with this lamp picture. You're right, it's a quirky thing, but hey, that's what's made it special! Glad your friend has perked up since calling you about the lamp.
Unusual and one of a kind- what a great gift to enjoy and also to cherish the friendship you have with her. Glad to hear your friend is feeling better now too.
**WOW**! What a beauty and a treasure that is! That you know it was made my your friend's neighbour (provenance), in the 30's and sporting a marvelous animal and that delicious shade of jade green, it has both beauty and meaning! What a lovely gift to have received, and I know it means a lot to her to know it's found a home with you. You've described Pauline in the loveliest way, and I hope she'll be feeling much better soon and that you have more years to share together.

thankyou so much my friends for your lovely comments. So nice to be able to share something special with you all. My friend Pauline and I have known each other for over 20 years and she has always been a tower of strength to me and I tell her she is my role model. She is elegant, gentle, supportive, wise and non judgmental. I am privileged to have her in my life.
