on our Anniversary I thought I would post a photo from our wedding album. Dont you just love the Nana Mouskouri eyewear and the headscarf. I was not a traditional bride and wore a miniskirt with a silk coat in pale cream - very 70's. Our white gold wedding rings cost $36. The hire cars cost $14 a car for up to 2 hours. How some things have changed but not us of course ;)
Congratulations on your Anniversary. We have been married 47 years too. We only had a small wedding. Not one for fuss. We decided to get married when David was posted (with the RAF). Only 12 people at our wedding and David and I were two of them. I am sure it is the reason why people of our generation are still together. These days weddings cost a fortune and couples plan a huge wedding rather than think about a marriage. Lovely shot of the two of you.
What a beautiful memories and this is why you both made it this far. Materials have no guarantee for a true love. You are a beautiful pair. Enjoy the day and many many coming in your way.
Thank you for sharing this memorable picture. You make a wonderful couple. Congratulations on your 47th anniversary. May you have another 47 years happily together.
my goodness I am overwhelmed by your lovely congratulations on our special day. We didnt really celebrate in any way but I feel you have all dropped in to share some time with us and we really appreciate it.
Happy Anniversary. you made a lovely couple ( even with famous eywear and funny looking headscarf). material things don't mean much to us either. we got marrried by the Justice of the Peace with each one relative at our side.
@bruni thanks for your best wishes Bruni. We are at the stage of life where we are clearing out lots of our clutter that we have collected over the years. It really not all that important any more.
Well, this is a pure delight! Ken and I married on June 14th before you in '69; I designed my wedding dress and made it. And like the prices for rings and cars, weren't weddings more practical then? We breathed a sigh of relief when our daughters opted for low-ley weddings and not the extravaganzas that are fostered on young couples now! Thanks for sharing that! You two are adorable, as I'm quite sure you still are today! โฅ
@Weezilou thanks Louise. I am astounded at the amount of money young people spend on weddings these days. My son and his wife had a small but beautiful wedding in the grounds of a wonderful old house up in the hills behind Adelaide with about 50 guests. Maybe one day we should get people to post photos of their wedding days, could be a lot of fun to look at the fashions
This is so wonderful, Chris! Such a marvelous portrait of the new bride and groom. Takes me back. I'm right behind you at 42 years (1975) in June ...how is that even possible. And it looks like my friend, @Weezilou, and I share an anniversary day...Tom and I are a 6/14 (Flag Day) couple. :)
@peggysirk thanks for your good wishes Peggy. when you are first married the time stretches out in front of you but after 40 years you wonder where the time went
