mermaids purses by cruiser

mermaids purses

actually have nothing to do with mermaids. They are the dried up egg cases of sharks, stingrays and skates. They are attached to seaweed and are black or golden coloured. Today we visited Hengistbury Head which juts into the English Channel near Bournmouth, Dorset, England.

Wow! Such an amazing find! This is the first time I've seen these dried up egg cases so I looked them up online to satisfy my curiosity about them. So interesting! Funny that they're called mermaid's purses. :-)
