Window to Remember

Heading North to Wells next the Sea, we passed the church at Blakeney,
which unusually has 2 towers,
the old original thin tower near the north east corner of the church,
and a much more impressive later tower at the west end,
which serves very effectively as a landmark for the surrounding area.
This photo shows a stained glass window in the porch
donated as a tribute to the RAF in memory of former Battle of Britain pilot, Air Commodore E.W. (Bertie) Wooten.
The background represents land sea and sky, with the sweeping shapes of wind and fishing nets.
The badge on the left represents 234 squadron, sea birds are riding towards the second badge representing the RAF.
The ship symbol on the right is used by the World Council of Churches.
At the bottom, the coastline at Blakeney point is represented.
Bertie was a keen orchid grower, so it is only fitting that an orchid should be included.
At the top, the moon, with guiding star for navigation and the sun is on the right.
The message "Lift up your hearts' is clearly visible.
Alpha & Omega are shown over distant hills.
The message 'To the few from the many" reminds us of the generation that gave so much.
Details from the church at Blakeney.

Wells was over run as it was carnival week, after inspecting the harbour we explored the main street, discovered the parish church, and purchased a surf board
before heading down the coast.
The beach at Salthouse was not child friendly,
so we ended up back at Sheringham.
As the day was very hot, it was a good day to go in the sea
so we did :)
lovely stain glass !!
