Amber by daffodill

Amber

Snow fell indiscriminantly from mid afternoon onwards on Saturday.
Covering roads, footpaths, trees, people
....anything and everything
...moving or stationery.
All covered in a shroud of seasonal whiteness.
Sunday dawned.
How would we get to church?
My husband went wearing his wellies to check the steep hill at the end of the road. The snow was turning to slush we should be able to get there in our car.
We went and picked up our passengers
and crossed town.
As expected the trickiest part was the hill up to the church.
Meeting a car at the T Junction was not helpful, as the steepest part was just past this.
Wheels span on the compressed snow.
Quick arrow prayer.
We can't leave the car here it would be in everyones way, we need to get it up to the car park.
Second attempt, the wheels span furiously, but managed to gain enough purchase to crawl up the hill.
As it was All Age Worship, most of the congregation arrived in the 5 minutes before the service.
By the time the service was finished and we had tidied up,
the rising temperature and the general movement of cars has made a significant difference.
I took this shot on studley Road going home for lunch.
The trees reflected on the wet road, but signs of life as normality returned.
The secret is - so I've learned after spending the past few weeks in frozen Canada - is just to grin and bare it.

I like how the trees are reflected in the road. It's amazing how quickly the weather can change. So mild here today compared to yesterday xx
