Rule of Thirds Revisited by daisymiller

Rule of Thirds Revisited

The rule of thirds can be used to create a stong composition. When overused, it sometimes results in boring compositions. When used well, the rule of thirds can emphasize the subject and make the photo more exciting. Even though I was feeling more confident in using the rule of thirds, I thought I would experiment with this when photographing the crocus blossoms. I am glad I did do this experiment. I learned that there is another important factor in the rule of thirds. If there is a distracting element in the background, then the subject (blossom) might look better in the centered position. I saw this over and over again as I photographed the crocus. I placed two of my comparison photos in this collage. This experiment came from the book, Extraordinary Everday Photography.
Your colours are extraordinarily rich and beautiful!

Quite an interesting explanation and something for me to think about when composing. You picked a colorful subject to work on.
