Hydrangea Simplified by daisymiller

Hydrangea Simplified

I have always had difficulties getting a decent shot of hydrangea. I simplified this shot by focusing on a blossom at the edge of the blossom cluster. I like this a lot better than my earlier hydrangea shots. I played around with simplifying the image more by adding vignette processing. However, I did not have the time to get that processing to look good, so I removed it.

According to the authors of Extraordinary Everyday Photography, a photographer should explore various ways to simplify a photograph. The authors say that too much clutter makes a picture fall apart. They say that we should simplify by refining our vision and telling our story by simplifying the image. I think there is still too much clutter in this photo, but it is the best I have done yet with the hydrangea.
Poor old hydrangea - they are difficult to get to be simple though! they have so many parts and flowers and stems and leaves! I like the colours in this shot!
