This Bible was given to me as a gift from the church we attended when I was a child. We were only there a short while. It was the Antioch Christian Church in Vienna, VA. It was a rather small church just outside DC but very rural then. I have gone back to see this church several times and it still looks the same.
Conversely, I was able to attend church tonight for the first time since our surgery. We have a large church with about 7000 attending each weekend. You could say we "think outside the box" with the sermons. Tonight, the pastor drove a Lamborgini on stage to make a point. If we owned a slick "machine" such as an expensive Lamborgini, we would take great care of it. How are we taking care of the "machine" that God gave us? Honor God with your body and be "all in". It was a great reminder.
@worldbiking It brings back memories of that time in my life. I also have a bible from first grade (that I almost uploaded) and one my aunt brought me from Isreal made out of Mother-of-Pearl. I especially cherish that one.
It is a wonderful physical reminder of the spiritual heritage you have been blessed with! I have a Bible presented to me when I was 8 for memorizing The Ten Commandments, The Lord's Prayer, The 23rd Psalm and the Sermon on the Mount. Thankful for my Christian parents!
Wow that is a lot of people attending the one church. I like how he gets his point across.....certainly a better way to grab peoples attention and get your point across than just standing there talking for half an hour.
@billsouth Great message above. If I owned a Lamborghini, I would start it up early every morning, run it fast all day, feed it richly, wash and groom it well and park it in the garage very late....same as I treat my body! LOL I'll post my car in the morning, so you see how I treat myself.
@bkbinthecity I'm glad you have yours, too!
@tamaradawn The colors just didn't do anything for the photo. The left page was black, so I thought this was the best option.
@skipt07 Yes, great minds indeed! Yours was excellent. Our sermon was on 1 Corinthians 6:12-13, 19-20. Excellent sermon, indeed.
@dreams Yes, we do have a large church. It has grown exponentially over the last 10 years.
