Florida East Coast Railway Depot in Boca Raton, Fl, built in 1930 (ancient by South Florida standards). Clarence Geist purchased what is now the Boca Raton Resort and Club and then built this railroad depot to accommodate his guests. Passenger service ended in the 1960's and the Boca Raton Historical Society restored the station to use as an antique locomotive museum.
Unbelievably, this is less than 30 minutes from my house. I have passed by it often and have never stopped! But I am on a mission to check out some of my local historical places. Tonight was a stormy night, so we stopped by before the rain caught us. There was a lot of lightning, though, so we didn't stay long. I had hoped to catch a night scene, but we were too early. There are two trains on either side of the depot. Maybe during the tourist season, I will stop by for a tour.
I love old buildings like this and am so glad to see that they have another use to them. I posted a shot of an old fire hall turned into a theatre for my shot today
