Micanopy's Historic District by danette

Micanopy's Historic District

Per Wikipedia:
"Micanopy's historic district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. The home of Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings, where she wrote The Yearling and Cross Creek, is in nearby Cross Creek. The house is now a museum."

Did you know the movie, "Doc Hollywood" was filmed here?
I had a big hardcover version of The Yearling that I got for Christmas one year. I can still smell my childhood when I think of that book, if that makes any sense. Random, I know.

@squamloon Makes sense to me. The house was a restaurant where we ate a few times. I love it there, but have not been in quite a few years.

I love Doc Hollywood! After seeing that I wanted to move to a small but thriving town. Even though everybody in small towns knows everybody else's business. I wonder how many small towns exist any more where the local towns people look after and care for one another? Or is that one of those things that happened in the past that will likely not happen in today's world?
