See now, this is why the kind of enhancement I'm experimenting with annoys me... this is absolutely beautiful just as it is,and the HDRites would want to take it and blow it all out.

@squamloon I actually used some HDR to help this one along. I used Perfect Effects 9. Cost me all of $39 with a special deal. I find their HDR is not extreme. I don't know how you enhanced your snow photo. There is a time and place for all methods of processing, in my opinion since beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Sometimes I look at old photos and think "if they can only give it a little more oomph"! Not always and I agree it can be overdone.
