Old City Hall, Tampa by danette

Old City Hall, Tampa

This building was built in 1915 and is on the Historic Building Registry. I was just reading that the clock tower was renovated in 2012. The 4-sided clock is called Hortense. I have no idea why. My dad used to call me Hortense. I have no idea why.

Beautiful historic building with the clock and flags waving in the air. I enjoyed seeing all the intricate details and like how it is set in front of the contemporary high rise to compare yesterday and today's architecture. Give me the old styles any day.

Yep—I love the juxtaposition.

And here's the story of the clock... not that it answers your second mystery. :^)

@squamloon Well, that is very fascinating! Thanks for the information. I will need to check it out on another visit. We have driven by it a few times at night. It is so pretty and always draws my eye.
