Old Seven Mile Bridge by danette

Old Seven Mile Bridge

Key West is 161 miles from Miami, mostly along a two lane road. The old bridge was built from 1909-12 under Henry Flagler (well known in S. Florida for bringing civilization to our area). This portion was originally part of the Overseas Railroad. It was turned into a road for cars in 1935 by the State of Florida. This bridge is still open for pedestrian traffic. The new bridge was built in 1978-82.

Wow... 7 miles of this. How very cool. The colors of the water and extended leading line of the bridge are compelling.
