African Iris unfurling by danette

African Iris unfurling

I have never captured, or even seen, the African Iris at this stage of opening. This was taken yesterday.
How beautiful, Danette. Gives us an update when it opens up.

@anazad511 Ana, I was trying to find out how long a flower lasts. From what I see, they are supposed to open only in the mornings, unless it is overcast. Today has not been overcast and I see one open flower (I had three buds yesterday and this one opening) plus I have three more tiny flowers that will probably be open tomorrow or the next day.

@lucypics Thanks, Lucy. I really thought it was different. This is a favorite plant of mine.

@cococat Thanks, Claire. Here's another I took at the same time but it must be a day or so more developed.

Fascinating. You know the Joni Mitchell cloud song? (Of course you do... you're the cloud person) Well 365 has me looking at FLOWERS from both sides now, too.

@squamloon Flowers (and many other things!) certainly have different views.

@vesna0210 Thanks, Vesna.

@mittens It is a beautiful flower. I am noticing other things today and I've only had the plant about 20 years!

@dreams Thanks, Karen.
