Word of the day today for the September list is: Remember.
Only one thought comes to mind for the image today and that is one of my beautiful mum Sandra.
She lost her battle with cancer on 4th January 2002 aged just 53. She was my one true inspiration in life, always there for comfort and support, and i have nothing but fond memories of her to cherish.
She lit up a room with her presence wherever she was and whomever she was with. This was proved at her funeral which was overflowing with friends, family and many, many work colleagues.
It was hard watching her fade away that January morning but I knew at last she had found peace. I can't stress how much i miss her, and that maybe one day we will be reunited.
This image was taken at her marriage to my stepdad round about 1981 and hopefully portrays the light that radiated within her.
So so Sorry to read this Darren what a touching story i too have lost both my parents my mum past away December 1990 the 10th and my Dad passed away 17th of July 1993 my mum was 63 and my Dad was 66 when they both passed away at the time when my mum and Dad were alive my Dad was only 8 days older than my Mum , and what a beautiful photo of your mum too that is a nice photo to treasure .
What a beautiful memory. She looks like a kind, safe and sensitive lady. I can see people being drawn to her. Lovely smile and shining eyes. You seem to have these qualities too. Your comments are always thoughtful and inspiring. She would be proud !
I know exactly how you feel. Even though my mum passed away when I was not even 2 years old, I miss her. And it's hard to see how much my father and my two older siblings miss her, even now that she's gone for over twenty years. I'm with you in mind and it was nice to read about such a wonderful person. Always keep in mind that she is watching you from above, Darren. Keep up your great work here, I'm sure she appreciates it too!
I'm so sorry for what you've been through... I lost my father to cancer some years ago, (he was 55.) I miss him so very much as well... I think I can understand what you mean!
What a gorgeous tribute to your beautiful Mum, just beautiful.
She must have been immensely proud of you.
I lost my Mum through cancer two years ago, we never get over do we, but I believe that we eventually get through ...
Thank you all for your incredible words of comfort and support. It's amazing how many of you have been affected by the nasty disease that cancer is. One day it will be beaten and no one will have to suffer.
Much love to you all :) Mum would have been incredibly humbled by your comments, as indeed I am!
It's very hard, my mother passed away suddenly when she was only 49 years old. It's nice that you remember her in this way, I think of my mother all the time even though it's will be 35 years since she's gone this October 28th.
@pixiemac@tomsde thank you both for your words. Thomas, I'm sorry for your loss also, such a young age too. I, like you think of my mother EVERY day - the pain certainly dulls but never leaves altogether.
I try to tell people to appreciate their parents while they have them, even if there have been difficulties in the past, because once they're gone they're gone for good.
