I used the marinade exactly as written (oops, no, I used smoky paprika instead of regular--big improvement), but I used more chicken this time to make extra for leftovers for some salads this week. This is it on the grill in freezing weather after I went for my 3.1 walk in the brutal winds we are having today.
I also made my own green sauce that does not include any fats/oils/or creams to put on top of the chicken and in my rice. I will make a batch of green sauce weekly to add to just about every dish because it puts so much flavor without much effort.
Well, I did my first week weigh in and I lost 3.9 pounds last week following the plan I was given. It was a bit of a struggle yesterday, not gonna lie! I thought I never really craved sugar, but that is NOT TRUE. All I wanted was some chocolate and peanut butter last night, but I just made myself go to my room early and stay there--haha.
But today, I tried to make a peanut butter chocolate low point dessert (with PB2--a dieting peanut butter dust-- and some cocoa powder and yogurt). Was not really very good, but it was worth the experiment. What's one point, am I right? LOL.
Anyway, today was good. Just cold, windy, and quick. I guess that's a win.
Well, my first thought when I saw this capture was "I'll be right over". This looks delicious! And congrats on your weigh in. I have gone up and down with the same 2 or 3 pounds since last May. (As long as I stay within reason of my very generous lifetime WW goal, I'm happy)
congratulations on your weigh in success! The first week is the hardest and now that you have success under your belt you will be more motivated! This looks like a delicious way to stick to the plan too!
@linnypinny And if we were near and not in a pandemic, I'd say "come on over!" I am actually right around my pre-pandemic weight--but I've always been over-weight, even with very rigorous exercise. When I started running again, my knees were not having it. So I have to get the weight off. This is going to be a hard haul, but it's not like this isn't the very best time to do it--out of work, and plenty of time. I really do like the WW purple plan I'm on. I'm not giving much up--just changing things around. Since I love to cook, it's a good challenge to have! Glad to hear it has worked for you! I have a friend who has really inspired me--I got her hooked on exercise, now she has me hooked on doing something about my weight.
@grammyn Thanks so much Katy. It really is a motivator if I can see at least a pound or two a week shed. I know it won't always be this good, but I can see that it works!
@aikiuser thank you! I do need the luck, but I am giving it 3 full months of honest to goodness effort. I made exercise a regular fun thing 3 years ago (and still going strong), so I hope I can really figure out my food plan going forward. My metabolism is dead.
@jgpittenger Thank you! And I haven't really been hungry that much, which I'm thankful for, but I do have weird cravings I MUST resist. Thanks for the encouragement!
Geez, that’s a lot in one week. I do remember that happening for me at the start and then it slowed down, but stayed a steady 1 lb/week, which really adds up! Good for you. Thanks for sharing your experience. And photos!
Congrats. Weight is creeping on here, meds related, its okay at the moment, but I still have years of meds to go, don't want it to keep creeping on at rate it is....
@laroque yes, fresh coriandre is what you'll need. My recipe for the sauce is one fresh bunch coriandre (rinsed well, leaving stems on and dripping wet as the water is helpful), one large garlic, two green onions, juice of one big lime (2 if they are small), and you can replace jalepeno (I use one with seeds) with any spicy pepper you may have in france--or powdered spice (cayenne, indian red chili powder, red pepper flakes). It all goes in the food processor and it's vachement bon! :)
@newbank my initial weight gain years ago was meds related after my 2nd child years ago. It's such a hard thing to really deal with mentally, but I am going to work hard to correct the course now. I've made other attempts before but this plan seems different. My daughter is vegan. And she makes amazing delicious dishes.
@jakb It was a lot for first week. I have been down this road before, so once it starts to plateau, I know it will likely be 1-2 lbs a week. And that's all good with me!
Great start Daryl - I look forward to following your progress. With all the angst of confinements, lockdowns and curfews, I've managed to comfort drink my way to a 6kg gain. Mrs S says it's got to go, so I'm on the wagon :-(
