My first ONS had me going all UrbanEx with the Roswell Mill, so I wanted to retrace my roots and visit the power behind the mill--the dam! This is a side part to the actual dam (to see the dam, go here: http://365project.org/darylo/album3/2013-12-07 )The light was dark, so perfect for 100 ISO, small aperture, and long exposure--just not too long. A sunny day would not work I think. We have had lots of rain lately; the water is this earthen color (more likely Ga. red clay mixed in with water). It was so nice to go out on my own today. I asked my kids to come along, but they opted for hanging out at home. And I was A-OK with that! :)
Daryl, this is stunning! Which filter did you end up getting? I'm going to get one over break -- I want to take it to Hawaii when we go. But I'm still figuring out which one to finally commit to getting.
@taffy Ha, filter? I don't have a filter!! Tell me what to add to the xmas list! Hawaii? Oh dear, how I wish I could go places you and Junko @jyokota go!
@mzzhope Hope, the tripod I have is the one we have had ever since my kids were born (we got it to house the old videocamera for xmases, so I'm sure it's mostly a cruddy thing, but it's a Vivitar VPT-120SE. I would like more height, but I forgot today that it does have an extension that ratches up--that would have come in handy actually! Oh well, next time! I would ask the community about tripods. I'm thinking I'm going to want another one (more flexible and foldable), but this one really works for me in what I am currently doing! Thanks for your lovely comments. This ONS stuff is the bomb!
@darylo I am so very much enjoying this week, too! So cool to do this together! :)I just noticed Wendy started a thread about tripods so I'll check it out.
@mzzhope You know what's funny? I JUST realized that every shot this week for ONS has been with a tripod. Incredible. I have barely used it all year--maybe 5 or so times. Then bam. Just had to share--didn't realize it until I just looked over my week from a glance.
@darylo I can't wait to get one. Night shots, silky water....all the images I admire so much are impossible to do hand held.No one ever accused me of having a steady hand!
Beautiful! I love the narrow stream on the right hand side, and the way the mist/water bounces off the flat rock on the left. A poetic shot, one to be proud of!
Beautiful!!! Hey.. Usually the winner discussion has the actual image to look at :-) I thought of just sticking it in there myself, but thought I'd tell you instead.
@m9f9l I kept telling myself, "Don't forget Sunday, Don't forget Sunday" because the vote on these things is a WEEK LONG. I was so afraid I'd forget, that I just copied and pasted the text. Oh well, not intentional, just distracted by "doing the right thing." :) Thanks for having my back!
@taffy I would think for Hawaii a polarizer would be good if you don't have one.
