I had to traverse a very muddy path to get this shot and almost lost my bearings a few time--swoosh! Thankfully, I didn't end up completely covered. My shoes, however, were pretty gross. :)
@maggiemae This is under an overpass on the chattahoochee River. There is a walking path along the river and there is this area to approach the river off the path but it was so muddy. :)
Fav -- love the composition, the light, the POV, and the colorful graffiti illuminating it all. Worth ruining your shoes to capture this but glad you didn't fall!
Just read your goals for the new year and in keeping with one of your statements, I will ask a question. Did you use any other additional lighting for the shot? I find it quite interesting the the image actually gets brighter and brighter the deeper it goes! Great depth of field control too ... and now following your project. : )
@drfleury14 Hi Dan! Thanks for the question. I worked on this photo quite a bit actually as the light was not ideal in the least. So this one was shot in RAW, then I worked with radial and graduated filters to add in light (towards the end to highlight the graffiti) and to work on clarity to provide the texture. The steel beams on the right looked like a light system of bulbs (and they may be--have no clue), so I used a graduated filter or radial right in that area. Lots of play with contrast and shadow too. Very heavily edited I'm afraid, but it was great practice and because the photo was shot in RAW I had a flexibility that I did not have on my shot I uploaded today (the Out of Order) one, I forgot I had switched to Jpg on that one and I had to work in other ways there!
@darylo Very cool, and fantastic results! I have LR4 but this sounds way more powerful. I was assuming you used layers in Photoshop. Excellent final image.
@drfleury14 I don't think that what I do is much more powerful than LR4 from what I know really. I don't even know how to do a layer yet! I have PSE 10, but I'm trying to figure out LR5. Experimentation is my way so far. I have a nice expensive book that I really should read sometime. :)
