Concert in the Square

Today:

1) Took kids to Six Flags Over Georgia for roller coaster and water park fun with a good friend.

2) Drove home in time to catch the US v. Belgium game.

3) Had about 500 heart attacks and yelled obscenities around little kids. Sad we lost. Proud of US team.

4) Went to Photo Society talk on photographing nature.

5) Decided to see what I could catch at night without a tripod. Went to old town square to see fountain--not enough light, but wow, frogs making noise everywhere. Put on wide lens. Did a force flash move. Kept getting my head as a shadow and gave up. Met two drunk guys who wanted to know what I was doing. Assessed they were harmless.

6) On way home talked to a friend to make sure her child was ok.

7) Talked to another friend on the phone and got a referral for some new work, but it will start tomorrow.

8) Came home to find that kids did not, in fact, clean up downstairs as I instructed after the World Cup loss.

9) Did dishes, but with huge chip on shoulder--lots of dialogue in my head that goes something like "Jeez, you ask for one thing, ONE THING...".

10) Went upstairs and loaded frog shots on computer.

11) Worked on cloning and healing my shadow out of this shot--there was a huge shadow of my head south of frog.

Going to bed. Gotta look fresh for client in the a.m. Oh, and to those of you who started at the beginning of January (not I), happy half-project day! :)

Want to read a great article on frogs, read here: http://www.examiner.com/article/the-frog-patrol. But note, he has the owl who says "who cooks for you" wrong--that's the barred owl. I am getting so good at this! ;)
LOVE this! Of course I love the frog, but loved the commentary too!!

@luvmynynix Thanks for visiting Laurie. I'm a horrible visitor myself. I saw your high key shot and it's just lovely. Off to bed. You are too kind to fav. :)

wonderful reading all topped off by a gorgeous frog

Brilliant commentary -- you captured your day so perfectly and humorously even though clearly parts of it were not funny. And I love this image -- fav! Good job on cloning your shadow -- I see no evidence of it at all. The frog's eyes are so clear and the bulge in his neck -- amazing.

Great talk through your day...I felt like I was actually there!
And a super pic!

Super capture, and a great account of your day. I sympathise with point no. 9 ... I've heard myself muttering that on a few occasions!

He's adorable! They are really loud for their size, kind of like kindergarteners! :)

@juliedduncan I was BLOWN away at the noise and then saw these teeny guys! And I was inches away from its face with a wide angle trying to move my head, to make sure I did not drop the dang camera in the fountain, and to get it in focus (my wide-angle is manual and you could not see the actual image in the view, so I just randomly placed it over the frog). Now I'm wanting to know all about frogs. Thanks for the visit Julie. I'm so horrible at reciprocating these days. :(

@jamibann I mutter other horrible things in my head too. And that's why my "bad mother" crown will never be another's...

@darylo Well, I'd say you did GREAT for not being able to see the little guy in the viewfinder! The little sticky pads on his feet tell me it's some kind of tree frog, what we call peepers (for good reason!). Don't worry about reciprocating - you know, do what you can and leave it at that. I have those days/weeks, too! Have a great one! ;)
