Boy do I wish I had READ ALL THE INFO Taffy, Paul, and Alexis provided before deciding to give the flare thing a try! But I'm proud of myself for winging it and figuring everything out as best I could (except the don't hurt your eyes thing--yeah, I was a bit overdoing it through the viewer--ouuuuch).
Ok, so here is what I learned quickly--the two parts that made the difference if I want the cool extensions and star effects was a high numbered aperture (high as I could go--22 ideal) and keep the ISO low -- I stuck it at 100. Then I messed with the shutter speed so I would not just get a silhouette (which was often the result because of my aperture and ISO). In this photo, I have cropped the larger scene because I liked how some light came through to accentuate the leaves. My processing does NOT attempt to alter the flare--so that should be good.
Next time, read before trying. My eyes do need a rest from this one! :)
@mothervic I'm sure you can!! I just read the directions on the Camera Settings Challenges (usually) and give them a go! It's my favorite challenge here since I'm learning as I go. :)
