We were going to go to a fancy French restaurant later in the day to celebrate my dad's 84th birthday, but I decided to make some French breakfast at home earlier! These are actually Dutch pancakes, but they are all the same. I made mine small, unlike the huge ones we ate in France this summer. Yum!
@maggiemae Maggie, it's a fried egg and a bit of melted cheese. After I made the pancake, I put the fried egg I made on another skillet and placed it in the middle, and then I just folded and pressed the sides of the pancake over. It's pretty easy!
@grammyn I'm pretty sure my crepes are not really real. I use a Dutch pancake recipe that I made my own for ease (I cup flour, 1 cup milk, 1 egg, vanilla extract (optional)). That makes about 4 large pancakes and one small one. If I want more pancakes, I just double up 2 cups, 2 cups, 2 eggs, etc. I use one of those wand mixers because I'm too lazy to whisk anything! But it makes crepes/Dutch pancakes so quickly. Then you can put anything your heart desires on or in them! This was the first time I ever tried folding one and putting in an egg -- saw it in France, and thought, well, worth a try! xoxo
@laroque Almost everything I had in France this summer looked better, but breakfast I rarely ate out. I did have a lovely assortment of pastries, though, on the daily! And the best strawberries!
