This morning, my apple tree (aka, my bird feeder) has been visited by Mockingbirds, Cardinals, Finches, Squirrels, and Carolina Wrens. They have all been feeding on one apple. This Cardinal kept pecking away, and then looking up at me as I inched my way forward and cursed that any possible shot would be manual focus. I really wanted his beak up just one bit because he had a tiny morsel in his mouth, but I was not going to get the shot. But the feathers, his little observant eye, his claw, and the apple came together in focus.
Still loving mono setting on my Rebel. Highly recommend playing in it.
Those details are well captured and I love the use of B+W! The birds around my house are much more active than usual lately - must be getting ready for winter.
@nanderson Thanks Nancy. I am not a member, but I know next spring I want to be part of the Cornell bird site and help keep counts on certain species and do a nest watch. This year I watch chickadees nest, wrens, and two robins nests. It's been fascinating to watch it all happen--it's sad that I'm 48 and just now noticing the birds of my world. They were always there; but 365 has changed me forever!!!
@darylo Yeah me too..what...you have your whole life in front of you!! I think that is awesome....I will be interested to follow all that and see all those different birds...do you have a big bird seed bill..lol? :)
@nanderson The only feeder I have is a hummingbird feeder (and I make the water/sugar mixture myself)--all of the birds that visit only eat what is in my back yard (apple tree, shrubs, berries, flowers, bugs, etc.). Apparently, the natural landscape is what they love more than a feeder.
