We went to the Battle of Bannockburn Festival today celebrating 700 years of Scottish Independence. It was held up the road in the township of Bannockburn so we went along and had a great time. This Wedge Tail was in the Birds of prey demonstration and is Australia's largest bird of prey and one of the largest eagles in the world. Females are larger than males, weighing over 4 kg. Males weigh about 3.5-4kg. The wings of a wedge-tailed eagle are about 2.5 metres from tip to tip. The birds are about a metre in length. They are so amazing.
Thanks for all your visits, I really enjoy reading your comments.
1314- battle of Bannockburn. One of the few dates my dyscalculic brain remembers; but then I am Scottish! Funny to celebrate it in Australua but I guess we don't so.. Fantastic detailed shot.
Superb close up Diane! I adore Eagles! Your Wedge-tailed Eagle very closely resembles our Golden Eagle which I see quite frequently in the desert soaring on the warm air currents! Great Shot!
@dollycreek It was a great day Chris and the weather stayed fine, I may have to upload a couple of the other birds I got as well, they were fantastic to see so close.
Thanks for sharing its history
What a great close up Diane was this bird in the wild?
Great close up.
