Not much firewood here! by dide

Not much firewood here!

I think bonsais are rather cute. This little pine tree took my eye the other day when I was out - from memory, I think it was $149 - a bit on the expensive side if you forget to water it!
It is lovely - but you're right the price of these little guys is fairly prohibitive and you need to have green fingers!

@brookiew - Julz @julzmaioro said that kowhai are relatively easy to do and they're my fav, so maybe we should try to grow a couple...

Lovely focus , depth of field and processing Dianne, I would not be temped to purchase one at that price either, just think how many school children tree planting you could feed for $149, lol:)

They are pretty cool.. but I think growing your own would be a best option..

@dide sounds good to me!! Get one started now so we can use it as a Christmas tree ;)

Lovely but, I think a pot plant would suit me....

Lovely bonsai

bonsai is fascinating but I am sure it takes a lot of time and effort.

Lovely. I like how the softened edges brings the focus onto the bonsai.

I love these miniature trees but they always have a hefty price tag!

We used to have quite a few entries of bonsai in the Horticulture marquee in our local show & I used to feel sorry for their poor roots all squashed up! They were worth quite a bit of money & once had some stolen overnight, they crawled under the tent side to get in even though there was security. One son in NZ likes them too!

Lovely, I wonder how old it is, usually you are paying for its care as it will be very old. We have one which is very knarled and only 10 inches tall but I would guess it's at least 20 years old!

It always amazes me how they do this but it is expensive

@happypat how sad that some were stolen, as it is years and years work to get them to display/competition size

@craftymeg love to see a pic of it.

Nicely done.

You shot this so well! I love the way the leaves kind of pop out at the viewer. I wanna get one of these trees one day.

Lovely shot and I like your title. :)

The price you pay for something often depents on the place, and time, you buy it. Those are for sale in our country for +/- 1/10 of it
