This morning, well before daylight, the cicada began singing in earnest. At Awhitu, where we were staying, they were so noisy! They are such interesting insects and live underground as nymphs for many years. Eventually the nymphs crawl up a tree and emerge, leaving their shell behind. It seems the adults only live for a few weeks.
The Two Granddaughters were collecting these today ( the shells) and we got talking about the life cycle of the Cicada... I saw on in the process of 'coming out' the other day ... beautiful shots..
Stunning macro detail, wonderful colour and both beautifully presented Dianne, what timing to capture before and after very interesting an instant Fav:)
