At work

This image was taken on a 4 day macro photography workshop that I have been attending in the South Island. This is the tutor - Alan Cox showing us the setup and how to take a series of images for focus stacking. He is taking images of a tiny toadstool. A fantastic workshop and I have learnt heaps - I just need to practice the technique while it is fresh in my brain!
Expert at work... is he kneeling on a flutterboard? another thing to add to the gear list..

@julzmaioro Part of a closed cell sleeping mat - a must for kneeling/lying on in the damp bush.

Interesting to learn all about macro on site like this! I think Julz will be picking your brain!

Oh golly, what on earth is all that stuff for?

@kathiecb that there’s a whole new mini world out there. That my 100mm lens is a beauty for macro. That you need to be prepared to grovel on the wet bush floor to get a good composition.... also that focus stacking is fun when you learn how.

@dide Good things to learn especially the grovelling bit.

@golftragic - the tools for macro focus stacking. A good tripod, flash and diffuser for low light, a focussing rail to move camera closer in increments and a mat to lie down on when you feel exhausted!!!! Anyone seen my pack horse trotting by?

@dide I feel exhausted just reading your list!! Wow!
