This was an interesting area on the cycle trail, where it was an experimental planting of exotics beginning in 1923 and some planting still happening in the 1980's. The eucalyptus in the background are remnants of the plantings. This is part of the Mananui bush tramline, so the track was pretty flat and straight. It is between Hokitika and Ross.
