I just shot this photo of the sky filled with clouds, converted it to B/W and wow! I got this effect. I loved it! Thought it looked very strong and dramatic.
I'm guessing that this B&W photo is a lot more dramatic than the original! Isn't it fun to see what the possibilities are with only one photo and all those computer choices?!
re: sugar cane ... they burn the fields to get rid of the "bulk" (dried leaves), as well as rats, etc. Then, the fields are prepped with irrigation lines (flat black plastic hoses) and replanted with seedlings. I believe that it takes two years for a field to mature for harvesting.
Very nice, and the B&W is great! If you have photoshop I really like to use the 'layer'-'chanel mixer', you can then convert the color channels to B&W and it even gives you virtual fillter options for B&W as well. B&W with a red filter really makes white clouds pop against a blue sky.
