We have all seen Street Art, but what about Barn Out? I remembered driving past this barn and thought, this might work for this week's theme, Architecture. Either way I think it is a great piece of country barn art. Occasionally you come across barn advertisements that had been painted on the side of barns years ago by advertisers to provide commuters with a visual. Most of the advertisements I remember were related to tobacco products. You don't see it as often today, but some of the origianl art still remains on the older barns. I think this one is just plain cool of the horse.
This is gorgeous -- I completely LOVE it. The painter who did this is a real artisit in my book. If I had come across this barn mural/ painting I would have thought I had found a real photograhic treasure.
So GLAD you found this one.
This is AWESOME! We have quite a few barns with art on them here in Michigan. Trouble is, I can't remember where they are! One has the Mona Lisa painted on the side. I absolutely love shooting old barns.
There was a gentleman in Port Orchard that always painted his shed, which was along a major route to the Seattle Ferry, according to the next holiday/season/festival. Alas, the local power that were shut him down. Nothing that was off colour or anything, them just thought is was a distraction.
RE: Seattle. Hard to tell what is the best time to come to Seattle. Spring and fall are my favourite times. Spring because of the new growth and low angle lighting in the mornings, fall because of the local colours (which get to their peak just before the first major storm of the season comes thru). SO I would have to say September and October would be my pick.
To answer your question about Markel, the corporation is headquartered in Richmond, but I'm not certain they still have offices in this building. I noticed the names of various lawyers and insurance agents on the sign on the street, but never noticed whether Markel had offices here or not.
Imagine what it would take, as an artist, to paint on that scale! Looks to me like it's even bigger than some of the street art we've seen! And it's really pretty!
Hey Rick, thanks for the ref re the date, but I live in Canberra Australia and we do it that way. Date, Month Year. thanks for that shows you are
also reading every bit of writing - I do the same it slows we down getting around to all but I just love to talk. ;-)
I forgot to comment on your photo before. I love this shot. It reminds me of some others we saw traveling last summer. Nice crisp shot, Rick
Thanks for info on pups. You answered my question!!
This is fantastic...wonderful art! I once saw a painted barn door that was closed but the painting and perspective made it look like it was open and one could see everything inside...it was great too. I love your photo...
That is a nice piece of art! It looks like the horse is in 3D with his head hanging over the fence. The house and bushes/trees in your photo show just how huge that barn is. Nice one!
So GLAD you found this one.
love this....great shot!
