It's All In The Hands by digitalrn

It's All In The Hands

When our children were young, probably 15 years ago, we bought them a vintage Pin Ball machine, Gridiron Football. It was a big hit for some time, but now that they have grown, it has been sitting idle for several years. Recently we began remodeling our basement and my Son and I plugged it in, and to our surprise it still worked great. So now, every once and awhile I go down and turn it on to see how many points I can rack up. The old flippers still work nicely, and it's fun. It's one of those things we'll probably hang on to forever. It brings out the "kid" in me. I love the sound of all the bells when I hit the jackpots.
can I come over and play? I love pin ball machines, but haven't seen one in years!

wow! Great to see the old game works. On a side note, I was noticing that you often view and comment on pictures just before I do.

Wow! great photo - good to hear that you are getting pleasure from it again. they are hard to come by these days - a good one costs.

My son has an old poker machine he has restored
I put 2 photos on 365 earlier - have a look at them if you like:D http://365project.org/loey5150/365/2010-03-13 http://365project.org/loey5150/365/2010-03-21

Rick, yes, that's the United Church across the park from our house. We're on a bit of a hill, and the park slopes down to the church and on down to the waterfront. You get in a good walk around this town!

Your pinball machine looks like a lot of fun! Anything that can be enjoyed by father & son together is all the better!

Thanks, Rick...he's refurbishing a boat. He was ripping off the plywood someone nailed into the bottom.

Its wonderful that the old game still works -- old things were built sturdy. Excellent pic for the theme.

Thank you, Rick.

I like the composition... makes you feel like you are in the arcade(basement)... but what I really like is the details like the. watch and ring... lets the viewer see your maturity contrasted against the youth of the game...

I LOVE that game!

Cool shot, at 39 I still like to play pinball on occasion.

And occasionally in the hip or knee. But that wouldn't roll well with the theme. Nice shot. :)

another great picture, glad to see you make time to play !
July 30th, 2010
I agree - there's nothing like a classic pinball game! Glad you're still enjoying it - nice shot!

as soon as I saw this, THE WHO's, Pinball wizard starting playing in my head. I love pinball machines.

Becasue it is vintage and mechanical, it will work forever! You would not be so lucky with a comptuer game sitting idle all these many years. Yea for when things were made to last and bring enjoyment for years at a time.

Very clever and I so want it!!!!

Neat shot- the sepia tone works very well here. I love REAL pinball machines- the lights, the sounds, that ever-present "hum".... *sigh*

ahhh memories! I remember my pinball days...If I had saved every quarter I dropped in a pinball machine I could have quite a savings account! But wheres the fun in that? Great pic!

Oh man, I SO want one of these for my basement! When my hubby and I first met we used to play pinball all the time. Anywhere I go that has one I will play it! The new ones just aren't as good as the old ones though. Great shot!

Thank you so much for your comment on the little butterfly.

love the B&W treatment for this shot AND it brought back memories of playing pinball as a teenager! I found it quite addictive, so I think I'd have trouble with a machine in my basement ... LOL!

I was never that good at pinball, but I still had fun playing! Love all the sounds, the bells and whistles. Also like the b/w vintage feel to this photo.
