I was scratching my head tonight trying to come up with something to photograph, and I must admit, I was coming up blank. I wanted to try something different for a change, but my mind was running on empty. I think the winter months have been too long. I was messing around in the basement going through things, and I came across this old jar that belonged to my Grandfather. It was filled with a variety of screws, nuts, bolts and some smaller nails. I dumped some into my hand, and when I looked at the variety of fasteners, for some reason I thought, "Diversity." That triggered this photo. Nothing spectacular by far, but yet for the purpose of my photo tonight, it represents a sample of a diverse people. We come in different sizes, shapes and colors, and some with imperfections, but yet in spite of all these differences, in spite of the imperfections, we all have value, and we all have a purpose in this life.
Great shot. I have a thing for "nails" believe it or not... I live in an old house and learned from a guide at Old Sturbridge Village how you can tell when a house was built (roughly) by looking at the nails holding it together.
A very wonderful idea & I love how you processed the photo. Just tells you that everything can be artistically photographed - just takes imagination which you have plenty of.
yes, love it! a value and a purpose, each one of us, different shapes for different roles in life, yet all from the same "jar". I love this analagy. Thanks for this to start off my day :0)
Another great picture and beautiful lesson. Also love the idea that you have a jar of things that belonged to your grandfather- those little unique pieces of family history.
Yeah, what is it with guys and all their collections of old hardware?? Or is it just my husband and your grandfather? "I may need to use it for something someday." It's easier to go buy the right nail when you need it! Okay, sorry for the digression. Your illustration is perfect :)
Love it!! We did something like this for class except we did it on a mirror. Very nice commentary as well! This winter was hard on me as far as finding things to shoot. Hopefully I'm back on track now!
Beautiful in its simple, but bold, statement. Good choice, and proves that sometimes being empty gives our Creator/creative self a spot to place a thought and creative idea. Be still, right.
Brilliant shot, Rick and the message is just awesome.
