This is another piece from my collection of family memories. It was in some of my Grandfather's belongings that I received. He served in WWI, and I have a photograph of him in uniform. This is a metal soldier, dressed in uniform that appears very much like the one he wore. I do not know for sure, but it could be a toy soldier from that era, representing the men in that great war. It was in with some of his belongings, so that is my guess. Either way, to me it is bling. I was playing with mirrors, and I was quite happy with the results I achieved, kind of represents past and present. I tried to link my previous posting but it would not open to that page for some reason.
Love these old antique toy soldiers. I was trying to figure out what this guy was carrying in his right hand. A canteen perhaps? I think there's quite a market for these, but this one is clearly priceless. Nice theme entry...my kinda bling.
Love what you've done with this toy soldier. I think the use of the mirrors was really a good choice for him. You get to see the toy from more angles this way.
So cool, I wish I had some of my grandparents things. The only thing my grandma gave me was the family genealogy which I've been advidly working on lately, oh and pictures to go along with them.
Bling comes in all shapes, sizes and styles. This is a really nice piece. I think it is wonderful the history that you have and you can pass it on to your children and theirs.
This is so beautiful, the photo and the story. Your grandfather's generation fought wars in a very personal way--no fancy techno devises had they! My heart and admiration goes out to all those who fought for our freedoms.
Wonderfully composed shot Rick and a great tribute to your grandfather! The reflection really makes the shot! Sorry for the mass comments....behind as usual but trying to catch up! :)

Nice that it has survived all that time :)
