Finding The Key by digitalrn

Finding The Key

It was raining all weekend, and I am not complaining. There was no snow, and the temperature was not bad, high 40's low 50's. I look at it as the ushering in of Spring. Since it was raining all weekend I was unable to get out and about to take photos, so I had to play indoors. Yes, I was playing with my light tent again. It is quite challenging to get the effects you want. Practice and some research will be secret to "Finding The Key" to unlock the possibilities. I think I may need a few more lighting options, but all in all, I kind of like how this one turned out. It looks like it is floating in the air. It is an old lock, another item from my Grandfather's belongings. I like the texture and the patina that has accumulated over the years.
Great shot. I love the texture as well and all the detail in the lock itself.

Great that you got to practice with the light tent. That's a neat old lock - it's amazing how much detail they put into designing and making a simple thing like a lock. Cool shot.

A light tent, very nice, good toy to have...I would like to have one but for now will make use of my home-made photo box. Great shot, how much is real light and how much is processing?

Always so clever! April showers bring May flowers and March rains bring mud!

That is an old lock - do you think it would open even if you had the key?
Nice colours.

Well , Rick it looks like you are leaving us novice behind and joining the big leagues. The shot is amazing.

@cortens It is pretty old,and the way it looks, I do not htink it would open. Perhaps if I took it toa lock smith and had a key made and they lubricated it, but I think the casing is so neat. I need to do soem research on it to see exactly how old it is.

@sarasdadandmom Trust me, this is beginners luck indeed. I have a long way to go yet. But it is fun playing.

I love the way this shot turned out, Rick! I've been thinking about getting a light tent! There's so many things about photography I still need to learn!

I also like the textures and the tones. You know, I have allergies so I always prefer to play indoors, and lately the allergies are really bad, and that is why I find a ways to create projects inside the 365P, I think one of the best things you to yourself is the light tent.
The photo is awesome!

Why don't they make things look interesting anymore? And none if it is high enough quality to still be around long enough to pass it down to the grandkids. Nice job lighting this! Things like jewelry can be hard to do.

Hmm... a light tent ? Something else I have never tried ! I like how smooth this lock is on the top. I can just imagine people from the past using it. I love the texture. This shot makes me want to reach out and touch it.
