We all have valuables that we treasure, and we do everything we can to protect them. Sometimes we fail to protect that which is so much more important than any of the material possession that we may accumulate. We need to protect our personal integrity, the qualities that mold and shape us into a person of honor, and of respect. We all know individuals who we can trust with our lives, those individuals who we feel comfortable to confide in, even with some of our most personal struggles, confident that they will stand by our side. On the same note, many of us have also experienced the disappointment and pain of broken trust. Once those qualities are tarnished, it is extremely difficult to make them shine again. We are all human, and we all make mistakes. Mistakes are acceptable as long as we learn from them. We have always tried to teach the importance of this to our Children. They've made mistakes as we all have, and they have learned the hard way the importance of what we have attempted to teach them. Many of us have done the same thing growing up. The important thing is that we learn, and do whatever it takes to rebuild those qualities. It's not impossible, but it does take a lot of work. Hope everyone is having a great weekend. It is raining here, but it is relaxing.
@pfmandeville Why thank you Pamela. I did work in the field of mental health for about 8 years, and then I went back to school to build on my profession. It has been a wonderful journey, though I must say, mental health can be very challenging.
That is such and important, though often painful lesson to learn in life...but aren't most of the big life lessons painful?
Thanks for the comment on my photo. I don't know if the piece is old or not. I bought it in a second hand store but I think it's a "touristy" knock off.
The thoughts here are so true, but you probably know that. I think Sue is right, you could be writing a book. :) Thank you. The truth is I just don't know better. Sometimes a comfort zone is perfect because you can develop it and mold it, create something uniquely your own. :)
Rick, I love how you can take an everyday subject and turn it into a lesson. And I agree with Pamela but I think the ministry could also be your calling as you are a very spiritual soul :-)
Its hard to let your kids fail, but that is the only way they will understand and learn sometimes.. People think Im cure sometimes with Avery.. but when he learns the hard way, he LEARNS.. and most often does NOT repeat!
Great shot and lovely words Rick!
Good picture but the words are excellent. When reading your words I have often thought you should be in the ministry...I would listen to your sermon ! And you certainly have book material here !
