Well, I must say, today was probably one of the most relaxing days I've had in a long time. The Grandkids were not here this weekend, so my wife and I had the weekend to ourselves. Today when we woke, we took out time with breakfast, drank coffee, took the puppies out, sat on the porch for a little while, I came in and caught up on my 365 project and did some other computer work while my Wife read her Kindle. Around luch time we went to a nearby antique mall and walked around. As we walked up and down the isles, I noted that they were playing the old songs. How appropriate to put you in the nostalgic mood to buy your memories. I spotted this large Watt mixing bowl, and it was in pristine condition. I knew my Wife always wanted one, so I asked her if she noticed it. She hadn't. So I took her over and showed it to her. She was really tickled at its condition. When I asked her if she wanted it, she said yes, so I picked it up. Along our walk I also spotted a few extra of these red handled kitchen utensils that I have been collecting through the years, so I picked them up as well. It was fun. After we finished at the antique mall we drove to our city's Historical Society. http://lebanoncountyhistoricalsociety.org/ I grew up in this area, and I have been fascinated with our history for some time now, but I've never been through this wonderful place. Well today we had a tour. It was a small tour group, just my Wife and I, and the Lady that gave us the tour did a fabulous job. We were there for two hours. I ended up becoming a member. I found out that I can do all of my family research right there, free and I can use the resource library as often as I'd like. Now I have another project, but I was amazed at everything we were shown. Needless to say, it was a great day. I hope your day was good too. Have a happy Monday.
It really sounds like you had a wonderful day..you and your wife..
at the antigue mall what you or your wife really always wanted was right there..what a coincidense. I always say it was meant to be. I still have to look at the attached url..so let me do that right now. also love to thank you for all your nice comments..they are always so appreciated.
What great finds at the antique store, and how cool that you got to take such a wonderful tour of the historical society. It sounds like you had a perfect day of relaxing and taking in some things that you'd wanted to do!
Love the bowl. Sounds like you had a wonderful day! Good luck with your family research, I have been doing mine for a while and it has been both joyous and frustrating, but well worth it
I love old kitchen stuff. I have a couple of those red-handled utensils on display (inherited from my grandma so they're extra special that way) and some old mixing bowls but I'm not sure who made them. I like the picture with the little tilt, the coloring of the bowl with the red handles- it has the "nostalgic" feel you felt in your day. And I can't think of anyone more deserving of a relaxing day!
I love the processing and the composition of your shot, Rick. It looks like the bowl my grandma made pancake batter in - and my mom had those red handled measuring spoons. Bob and I love those slow, lazy, do whatever you feel like days, too. Nice that you had one... :)
I love how beautifully you captured the treasures you found! Your day sounds simply perfect. My husband and I love to do the same kinds of things as you and your wife. Even though we'll miss the last two kids as much as we currently miss the first two, we're also looking forward to the days when it's just us and we can have adventures like this together.
What a perfect day Rick for you both !! You don't need fancy places to go , nor to spend lots of money to enjoy yourselves!! I have never heard of a Watts bowl but they look nice sort of vintage stuff that I like !!
YAY for relaxing days. what a great shot, Rick. There are so many antiques stores in my area that I haven't been in and your shot makes me want to go poking around. :)
Well it sounds like a wonderful day!!! And great find with the bowls and the red handled utensils too!! They look great together and have made for a lovely photo!
What a wonderful day - just sounds like you had the best time.
I love browsing through antique shops too. Good buy!
I too do family history - hope you find many of your relatives - it's addictive! :)
Ah I was reading and thinking that would be a perfect place for you, we can see you really like stuff like that. I hope you are going to be able to go to that ghost town a photographed in April. My Monday was good, no complains, I worked, my day productive, just did not take any photos.
You know, I LOVE days like these. I just like browsing around at antiques or museums. This is a fantastic purchase! I'm sure it will look beautiful in your kitchen.
Rick great story about your weekend, and like the bowl & utensils. You are a lovely man and your wife is so lucky. How exciting to be able to do your research at the Historical Society free, you were certainly meant to have that weekend together.
