Well, for the last week we have been struggling with some very high temperatures, just like many other states across the USA. It was getting to the point I couldn't help but cry everytime I passed the old electric meter. I am not looking forward to our next electric bill. That old wheel has been spinning like crazy racking up the kilowatthours. Well today, it broke. After a brief storm around noon today, the temperatures began to drop a bit. When we came home from work it was still around 84 degrees. Tonight we went out for supper, and shortly after we were inside the restaurant, another storm hit, and it poured for about a half hour. When we came out, it was like walking into another world. The sky was clear, a beautiful rainbow shining in the Eastern sky, and the temperatures dropped to about 68 degrees. What a relief! We arrived home, got out of the car, and as we walked into he house I said to my Wife, "Do you hear that?" She said, "Hear what?" I said, "The air conditioner's not runnng!" I don't think it stopped running since last Monday. Enjoying this while it lasts. Have a relaxing evening.
This is a great shot that tells a story. So glad it cooled for you. I know my meter has been spinning for a week plus now. I do not want it to, but there was no choice because of the high heat and humidity. Hope you have a great night!!
Awesome visual! I am so happy for you that you are having some relief! It feels better here, but our blasted air still is on because it's still 90. Great theme shot and here's to having air conditioning, even if we don't want to see the next bill!
well that was lucky, the break from the heat right when you would need it most! We also got a nice break from the heat, getting a cool breeze in the window right now.
I hear ya.....I have only a little window air conditioner, and it has not stopped either! I like what you did with this picture, I can see it spinning!
Great theme shot! I don't even want to know what our electric bill is going to look like, but I can tell you whatever it is, it was worth running that A/C!
Glad it dropped down and the a/c shut off...lol. It really must be a killer when the temp rises so high with that high humidity back there.. I couldn't imagine. Cool pic. The processing is perfect for it. :)
Your right..dread the bill too. we're on a time saver billing system. from 7 pm to 7 am we pay the least for hydro then from7 am to 11 am a bit more and when the weather is the hottest during the hours of 11 am to 7 pm we pay throught the nose. and like you said the airconditioner never stopped not even during the night, today we had a big storm and lots of rain..a bit cooler but still very humid. I love how you caught the wheels spinning ..never stopping..great action in this photo.
Won't it be nice to open the windows again . . .and smell the fresh air! You had to remind us of that "dreaded" bill that's coming tho. lol. Nice pic, Rick!!
I love the fact that it looks like the meter is melting. I hope that it gets fixed soon, before the next wave. A fav! You captured the sentiment of all lot of us.
Oh yes, ours has been insane. So much for extra money for summertime fun, haha. Maybe a bit of a reprieve today, though. It's 8:30AM and only 76F outside.
It seems so weird using your electricity in the summer, that is when us Brits save money by not having the heating on & it never gets hot enough for us to have AC. I suppose we must be grateful for that anyway in these poor summers ! It has been lovely today though !!
"That old wheel has been spinning like crazy racking up the kilowatthours. Well today, it broke." Initially I thought that the electric wheel had broken through spinning too fast ;) Glad it was the weather instead!
isn't this funny, one season we keep praying for warmer days, and when they finally arrive, we have to deal with the electricity bill, either way we are never going to have a perfect season
Oh poor you lot with that heat, and we are doing the say but opposite, we are burning Power with the heaters, and I too feel fear when I think of our bills coming. But of course yesterday and until Sunday we are having glorious weather, high minus temps, then Clear Blue skies, and then back comes the dreaded cold high winds and being August on Monday & the last month of Winter, it's going out with a big blast of freeze. Like the photo it's says it all.
