It was a rough night with the wind and rain, though very blessed, it could have been worse. Prayers continue for those who had their lives turned upside down by Irene. Personally we did not lose electical power or suffer any physical damage, but in the surrounding areas, there were plenty of trees and wires down, people without electricity for hours, some still do not have their power restored. I did a drive around this morning to some of the surrounding counties, and I came across some pretty significant damage. The rains stopped here about noon, and then the winds began to die down too. Hope you all remained safe. I am ready for an uneventful week of better weather. Hope you all had a safe weekend.
Good night, Irene and hello, tomorrow!! This picture really does look like the storm is leaving, Rick! Great shot of the rolling clouds moving away. Nice work!! And have a great "uneventful" Monday.
I am glad Irene had less of an impact than expected and your power was not interrupted. Looking forward to an uneventful week too! Nice shot of the end of the storm.
Glad all is well with you. I've been watching the news this morning with all the flooding problems on the East Coast. It's just awful for so many people....hard to watch.
Thank God it wasn't quite as bad as predicted for NY & surrounding areas but 11 dead I believe which is so sad, our prayers are with them. Great to see those clouds moving on !
Am so glad you guys are okay, Rick. My heart goes out to those without power. A staggering number with freezers full of good food going bad etc. etc. It's so sad!!
Great picture of the calm after the storm. happy to hear you and your family were ok.. hope that all of our 365ers can say the same. we had some heavy wind..no rain though..hear Quebec got hit.
Great picture to document the day. I'm glad that you and your family are all safe. I've been thinking about everyone and watched updates most of the weekend.
Our skies looked much like yours. Glad you were safe and thanks for your prayers for us. We survived with only losing power and a few inches of rain in the crawl space. The electric is back on now, and the water has gone back into the earth. Nice shot,
Happy to hear you are safe! The weather is unpredictable here too. This is fabulous sky you captured though. A great reminder that after the storm a new day will soon arrive. Nice!
Good shot! So glad to hear you are safe & well. It could have been worse for everyone.
We have been told to expect more violent storms that usual this summer.
One went through parts of Brisbane today with high winds, rain & hail.
Nothing we have any control over is the weather.
There's something about this shot that I really like. I think it may be that the trees on either side form a sort of valley. It all draws the eyes up into the mottled sky. Great one, Rick.
That must have been terrifying - glad you are unhurt. This photo perfectly captures a sense of foreboding in the air - it reminds me of the crucible for some reason. love it!
Glad you came through the storm safe and sound. The photo seems to be warning of more to come. Nice use of b/w to express the moodiness of the weather of late.
