Dragonfly On A Stick by digitalrn

Dragonfly On A Stick

It was time again for our all day meeting at work, and then more rain. Not much going on otherwise, and no time to get out for photos. While standing out on the back porch with the puppies, I thought to myself, well, I've never been able to capture a good photo of a dragonfly. Everyone I tried to photograph so far came out blurred. Well I saw my chance. If you can't beat them, then put one on a stick, LOL. My Dad had his walkway lined with these solar dragonfly lights, and each of the kids and grandkids took one home. A little bit of editing to add the color, and wow, I have my first successful dragonfly photo, on a stick of course. Hey, it didn't move.
Very cool find

@coastandcactus Cissy, I was in awe too. I wish the sun would have been out today, because then I would have taken a photo of it at night with the light on.

You must have had a dull day weatherwise to take a picture during the day and not at night...last year at a Spring dance I won one of those solar dragenfly lights and was trying to find a picture of it to show you but coundn't find it... I know they look beautiful during the day too and this one didn't fly away before you got your picture.

I'm pretty sure a dragonfly on a stick is the only one I'd ever capture too, and this made me laugh! It is such a perfect photo in this crazy and fun community, because we've all tried to capture a dragonfly or a bee or a butterfly.

You're not the only one unable to take these pictures. I have been a complete failure every time I tried to capture a moving bird or insect. Let's keep on trying, maybe some day we'll succeed. Love your idea and the capture is lovely.

I like the way you turned a negative into a positive. And how wonderful that each time this dragonfly glows, you'll think of your father.
