I Think We All Lean With Age by digitalrn

I Think We All Lean With Age

I went out for a bit today, went to a local antique mall and bought a couple pieces. They had some great deals, the one booth was 50% off clearance, and I was able to get a set of three nesting bowls in the one style we collect, and for the price we usually pay for one, and another booth was 20% off. That is my kind of antique buying. Then I went out and shot a few pics. I stopped at this old cemetery and was fascinated by some of the old grave markers. As I edited it I was thinking, here it is, the first time I get outside in a while to take photos, and where do I go, to the cemetery. Anyway, I liked this one. It was so old I couldn't even read the markings on it. Based on another one that was dated 1820, I am guessing this one was probably a bit older.
Great shot

Oh, I though you said learn! LOL. Nice shot.

nice processing and textures - the councils are taking down any leaning stones here and insisting others do - in case they fall on someone and they get sued

I find grave yards interesting too & could walk round forever reading inscriptions ! Nice grainy look !

Cool! I love looking at antiques and buying bargains. I'm leaning more and more these days! Great picture!

I like these "leaners" too Rick. They're so fascinating . . but usually can't read them anymore. Great shot of this and nice color tones. I also went antique shopping and bought a small table at a great price. :)

Sounds as though they were some great bargains to be had!!

Nice shot and processing.

I like it, but there you go again , making me wonder what the old stone could tell you , if it could
December 12th, 2011
Wow this shot gives me a shiver. But I like it.

You captured the "old" essence!

Interesting texture you have given this. I guess there are no living relatives to replace this headstone of long ago.

I love the effects you've done on this one. Out on the Darling Downs here in Queensland, we have a lot of my Grandma's family buried out that way... the Allora Cemetary has a lot of people in it that Mum knew when she was a child - and when Grandma was alive, she also knew.

Cemetaries are amazing places to go to find history.

Wow. You'd be leaning too if you were that old!

Wonderful textures. I just love your processing!

Thanks for asking about Mary. She was helping her mom for a couple of weeks and now I think she is so busy with the holidays. She says she'll return, and I hope she does. She will be so touched you asked about her.

Nice processing- definitely a cemetery person myself.

Excellent shot Rick

I stopped in at an old cemetary here awhile back and took some shots too. Many were from the same era as yours and some from the late 1600's and 1700's. They are truly fascinating as history goes- but also the one you can't read- for some reason are quite intriguing. Great shot.

Wow, that is kind of spooky and your editing/processing makes it even more so. I think antiques and cemetaries have alot in common. Glad you got such bargains! I love antique hunting.

It sounds like you had a nice day! Lovely pic!

I thought at first that it said "I think we all learn with age". Wishful thinking on my part - too bad I haven't learned to go get those bifocals I need. ;) Lovely tones.

cool photo Rick!

This is great Rick. I too love photographing in cemeteries. You never know what you may find.

Nice shot, great job on the editing!
December 12th, 2011
Nice shot - I love the older cemetaries!
December 12th, 2011
Lovely textures in your pic! Congratulations on your bargains too :)

Beautifully composed, Rick. Prefer going to a pub or eating place than a cemetary - and at night......
December 12th, 2011
Nice shot. Love the muted tones.

1820 isn't really all that old either. That gravestone is but a youngster.

I have a thing for cemetary shots! Love this with the aged filter, great processing : )
December 12th, 2011
I like the textures in this Rick. Great job :)

Well weathered and to be expected!

Great shot!

As a child I had to walk passed a cemetere on my way to visit an aunt.. i did this quite often and was always afraid when walking next to it. I think I was actually afraid and maybe that's why I don't like to visit them.
but I don't mind looking at the pictures..

Wonderful title! My parents are buried in a country cemetery in which the earliest graves date back to the early 1800's. The stones are so worn down, it gives clear evidence that we can not prevent the inexorable advance of time.

great shot

Gravity does affect everything after a while.

Very interesting pic, like the tones and the background texture.
