We had our Family's Christmas get together tonight, and it was a great evening of family time. We had plenty of food, a few games, and then the gifts. The kids had a blast, and the adults attempted to manage the chaos. Though there was a big hole there without Dad, his memory is strong within our hearts. Everything went on as usual, except for a favorite guessing game Dad would always do. At the request of one of the Brothers, we agreed not to do that game this year. I think everyone had a good time, just like Dad would have wanted. I went outside for a bit, and as the sun set over the hillside, I thought, wow, another year is coming to an end, and I couldn't help wonder what memories will be created in the upcoming New Year. Have a great night everyone. It's back top work tomorrow, and then another long weekend. Oh, I can't wait.
I was thinking of you today, and thinking the hole your dad not being there with you all .. 11 years on for me and there is a part of me that still misses my dad like he passed yesterday.
Glad you all had a wonderful time.. take care Rick
Beautiful way to end Christmas! Such lovely color and silhouetttes. Do you always use a Canon now, Rick. I thought that you used to have a Nikon. Just wondering . . I probably remembered wrong.
Beautiful shot Rick! Oh- your dad was there in everyone's hearts and I'm glad you were all together. And you've written a beautiful summary of your year. Merry Christmas to you and yours!
Rick great thoughts and memories were had by all from the sounds of it. Loved ones are always there in spirit. It was our first without my Grandmother. Especially hard for my 92 year old grandfather. So the photo is very inspiring for the hope of a new year.
Great message and I am so happy that your Family Christmas was wonderful...even though you all missed that very important Man called Dad. Great photo...on fire with memories!
Lovely Sunset Rick.
So good to hear you had a wonderful Christmas Day celebration with your family. We had a special one too. During the chaos of laughter & conversation, I looked around & thought how blessed we were to be surrounded by these people - family, friends & visitors.
You've made my year Rick, with your words. You are a special person :) xo
I'm sure your Dad was there in spirit...he enjoyed the family get togethers as much as you all do.. your picture is beautiful..nice sundown to end a perfect day with.
I'm glad your Christmas was so wonderful all the way around, and that you got to sneak outside for a private moment to take this photo. It must have been so hard without your Dad, but I'm sure you all did him proud.
I have traditionally taken the week between Christmas and New Year's off from work mainly because of the kids school schedule. I've decided to continue it because after all the busyness of the holidays it's a good time to clean up and relax. It's always been the most rewarding time to take a respit. My week is up now and I was busy as usual but feel rested. It's a good way to start the New Year.
Glad you all had a wonderful time.. take care Rick
