On my way home I spotted these tombstones. The words are barely legible. The spot sits along a small country road, and it looks like someone keeps the area clean and visible for all those who pass by. Gone but not forgotten. The evening sun shines upon their final resting place.
Great shot! We have a small cemetery near the Kingston Collage of TAFE. It's the first one of Logan City and has all the people who were the first families who lived here buried there. Because they were laid to rest in a particular spot, this little, fenced off lot of tombstones can't be moved. I remember passing them years ago, each time I drove to TAFE in the mornings. Meant to stop but never got around to it.
@scooter - it doesn't work with all headstones, but it can help. A large piece of paper and some charcoal for a rubbing can help too... but we don't all carry that around. But water can help in many cases.
There really is something quite peaceful about this shot. It could be the lighting- that magical time of day they call the Golden Hour, but could also be that they do look cared for since nothing is growing over them and obstructing them. Lovely shot Rick.
I'd like to be buried at a similiar spot - somewhere in the "veld" - where I grew up and where my father is buried. No fancy tomb stone for me - this is good. Nicely captured as well!
What a treasure to find Rick. I love the simplicity of these graves, it makes you wonder....even speculate as to a wonderful love story of sorts. Moving : )
