Well, today I received my first tattoo. Several people said, "You never had a tattoo before, and you are getting a portrait? Are you ready for that?" Well, I can honestly tell you I watched a movie while it was being done, and it was not uncomfortable at all. I was expecting much worse. This is a portrait of my daughter Stef. I made a deal with her a few years ago, that if she made it through her personal ordeal, and put her life in order, I would have a portrait of her done on my arm. She made it through, is doing well, and I followed through with my promise to her. My nephew Bill did his artwork this morning. It took him three hours. Just a little touch up work to do yet, but otherwise it is done. He did it all in black and greys, with some white for highlighting. I'm pleased. He does some great work, and specializes in portraitures. If you are interested in checking out his work, his shop is called, Hallows Eve Tattoo, and he can be found at facebook.com/hallowsevetattoo
WOW. Let me tell you, I have 5 tatts (soon my 6th) and they were all painful. But I have a low tolerance of pain. My boyfriend has 2 and didn't even blink. So as far as pain @kimmistephens it's all an individual thing! This portrait is amazing. Kudos to your nephew!!
Wow! What a neat promise and good for you for the follow through. Looks painful. I have a small, simple tattoo and I am too much of a wimp to do it again. She will never forget this and it will inspire Stef for years to come. You are a great dad
Wow! You're a good dad, not because you got the tattoo, but because you struck a deal and kept your promise. I know that means a lot to her and that it's deeper than the actual needle and ink went... Your nephew did a beautiful job. :)
Great sacrifice you made for your daughter, Rick. and it's great that you kept your promise. I pray for you so that you won't be disappointed. Love this tattoo - it looks so much like your daughter.
Wow--go you!!! This is awesome, he did a wonderful job--they aren't that bad, are they? So happy for her, it sounds like a good deal to be getting a tattoo for. I'll warn you, they're addictive though!!
That is amazing and so much meaning to it...I also have never had a tattoo but really am thinking about getting one....of a dragonfly...just have to figure out where....great picture.
What a great promise & she will respect you so much for doing this !! Looks like Steph too !! Handy having your nephew able to do this , you could scream if you wanted !!!
Wow, Rick. This just blew me away. What an awesome promise and I'm so glad that you could actually fulfill it because Stef is doing so well. Your nephew is very talented at what he does, and so are you with the photo. The way your shirt is draped looks like a scarf around her head. It really creates an optical illusion that is fabulous.
This is just so beautiful Rick.... and such a wonderful way to show how much you love your daughter.... so glad Stef made it through her personal ordeal and what a wonderful Dad she has, she will be so pleased to see the wonderful result of an amazing artist and a Dad that keeps his promises ♥
That is a TATOO?! Wow. It is so delicate and detailed....like a photo or painting. I am glad she came through her tough times and that you are memorializing it.
