Going To The Mill by digitalrn

Going To The Mill

I have always liked the view of this one railroad crossing. It always seems to appear busy, even minus the train. The tracks run right by a feed mill, and then across the street is a chemical, fertilizer company. I guess the only thing I would like to see added to this would be a train coming towards me. Oh yeah, that would do it.
Looks like it goes forever.

I have taken a photo on the tacks with a train coming towards me while I was in Wales. Fortunately, the train wasn't going very fast as it was a steam train and I pulled off three shots before getting onto the platform. Meanwhile the station master was getting a little panicked that I was the last one off the track... but I had to get my shot. :)

great perspective, i can do without the train!

Where there are tracks there are trains. Nicely done Rick.

To me it looks deserted. I've never ever thought of taking a picture of railroad tracks..must keep my eyes open for them. I've pictures of train stations when we were in vacation but never thought them interesting enough for a picture on 365..
I like your picture probably because of the buildings on both sides..they look interesting to me.

Or a couple of cars on one of the side tracks...with some graffiti on them. ;-) Very nicely processed.

Great composition Rick!

I love looking down train tracks like this too. Before we moved to PA we lived across the street from train tracks. If I had been doing 365 there, I definitely would have gotten a train coming down the track shot! I like the b/w here- gives it a deserted feeling in a way.

I love the POV, and b&w is perfect

Awesome perspective, Rick! You words tell a whole story about this spot, and this photo captures a whole world that I suspect is disappearing - which makes your processing so, so spot on.

busy and industrial feel to this shot with the ageless processing is fascinating
April 18th, 2012
great shot! yes the train would be a bonus :)

Lovely low down perspective ...there is something about rail tracks...where do they end up !!!!
April 18th, 2012
You are silly! NO train! Love the black and white. It perfectly depicts this scene. It could be in any decade. You done good!
April 18th, 2012
Thats cool. Love the lines and diminishing perspective.
April 18th, 2012
There's just something about train tracks... Great shot. Love it in b&w.

I think this makes a great location for a shoot, I can imagine quite a few themed shots that can be taken here. Great shot, lines and vanishing point (a new term I learnt in my course on Monday :))
