A busy day here. I worked all day today, came home, took a little nap, went out for a late supper, came home, and didn't feel like doing a thing. I grabbed this photo on the way home from work, because I knew I wouldn't have time to get out with the camera. This is a little piece of our town. The old bank still stands, but it is used for other purposes. In two weeks our local Historical Society is actually doing a walking tour through the City to point out some of the old architecture. I think I might join in on the walk.
I love old buildings and history too. I think you would really enjoy that tour. This reminds me of the city where I grew up near. On the Cape alot of banks look like shingled houses, not banks.
Looks like a glorious *block* of stately old buildings. Thank goodness some of them are at least "re-purposed" when the original tenants depart. (There is -- well there was -- an adorable bookstore in Hannibal, MO I'm pretty sure, that used to be a bank, complete with a balcony where the armed security dudes looked down on the transactions. Don't know that it's still there. Must google!
Great shot! How nice to see heritage buildings being kept, even if it is for another use, as long as they don;t demolish them. Out city keeps getting rid of old buildings. I think it depends on how much the developer pays the council to get the plans passed.
