A Big Step by digitalrn

A Big Step

I typically do not do photo shoots. They really stress me out. I do not have the proper equipment to do a professional job, and I hate the pressure of hoping the prints turn out half decent. Well, last week I agreed to do a bit of a photo shoot for a friend. She told me she didn't have any recent family photos, and their Son, pictured here, just graduated, and on Monday July 9th, he leaves for training camp. He enlisted in the United States Navy. I agreed to do it with the understanding that I give no guarantees. It's only a hobby. He's a fine young man, and is eager to take the big step. As I was doing the photos I couldn't help think, he looks so young to be taking on such an endeavor, setting aside his skateboard, and youth to become a man, willing to serve his Country.
Good job and I like the processing.

This is really nice. As a mom- I would be grateful for a shot like this. Alot of personality in there.

Great shot, Rick. Please thank him for me for serving our country. Sometimes when I see someone in uniform I think to myself, "Babies, we're letting babies defend our country." They aren't, of course. It's just that I'm old! :)

Wonderful shot -- great choice of angle to shoot from. Yes, it is a big step, and I'm always grateful for the men and women willing to serve.

Oh Rick, I think you took a marvelous portrait! And as you said, the skateboard is about the transition he'll make soon...he'll make a handsome sailor!

It's a very nice portrait of him. I'd say it's a little tight on the crop, but other than that, it's well done.

You did a great job, Rick. I'm not into photographing people, either. You have a valid point about his youth and what he could face in the military.

Really like the tones you chose to use and you did a great job with the portrait. Everybody looks young to me these days, including my doctor! They used to be old. What happened? ; -\

This is a fantastic portrait! I love the whole "put away the skateboard of childhood and look to the future of manhood" theme in the shot and the processing is perfect for this shot. I can't imagine that anyone would be disappointed in this shot! :)
