This is one of my favorite trees on campus where I work. It sits on the bank of a small duck pond. The bark on this tree is really dark, and during the summer months you really cannot appreciate it, but in the Fall when the leaves begin to change, the dark bark really stands out so much more. I love the contrast and the definition it gives the tree.
