In the Amish community, if a family suffers the misfortune of having their barn destryed by fire or other catastrophe, the Amish men come together and within a matter of a short time, they have the barn rebuilt. It is amazing how quickly it goes back up. Not too far from where I live, I noticed this barn a week or so ago, and I thought, wow, what a shame, it is really in bad shape, as many of the side walls were looking pretty shabby. When I drove by here today, this is what I saw. Instead of a barn raising, they have apparently been taking it apart in a very systematic way, and selling the old barn wood. It is down to the skeleton, so I quick grabbed a shot before it was all gone. I must keep an eye on the area to see if indeed now they are going to raise up another one in its place. I will keep youposted.
Great catch Rick. About a month ago I wanted to go out to the state land and take photos of an old silo, left after the barn was torn down. I would think about it and then forget it. I was so disappointed last Sunday when I realized it was gone! I don't know what happened to it, but no more chance of shooting that one- so it's good you took the pictures when you did! Nice collage!
Interesting! Lots of people want old barn wood for "decorating" purposes these days . . or do you think this is being kept for other purposes?! Great progression of photos.
I am always curious about the Amish way of life. I have been reading a lot about them - their culture and all. Something about them sparks an interesting curiosity in my head. great collage btw.
@cmansinon Well if they do not rebuild, the finished product will be an open field. Not sure yet what their plans are. Must wait and see. If they rebuild, then I will try and follow it.
