I thought it was interesting how this branch appeared to be reaching out to its reflection, but then perhaps we ought to do this more often to those we come in contact with? When we ask the question, "How are you today?" Do we really want to know? Do we really care if they are having the worst day of their life, or is it just a thing we casually say in passing? Most of the time we can be so superficial. To be otherwise requires some commitment on our part to be more in tune with those around us, and to actually find a way that we can demonstrate that we really do want to know how they are doing, really.
I've been thinking about that phrase and what we really mean by it lately too. When I say "How are you today", Usually I truly mean it and use it as a way to start convo with closer friends... but to people I don't know... Its not that I genuinely don't want to know, its just a good way to start conversation.
I often wondered how sincere people are in asking and do they really expect or care for the answer we give them. if the branch would have been a longer would it touch its shadow. this is a real beautiful picture Rick.
Very true Rick. And we're also used to giving the answer "Fine" when we might feel just the opposite. I usually catch people off guard when they say fine and it's not convincing. I'll say, "Really? You don't sound like you mean that!" It's been actually good to let people know it's ok to tell me they're not fine and they need prayer. Great shot.
It's so true, Rick. I get so frustrated with people where I live because they use it as a greeting and I have learned not answer honestly. I am not a fan of that. When I ask, I actually want to know
