The Gate by digitalrn

The Gate

I have a few ancestors buried in this cemetery, and when I drive past I am always intrigued by this gate. the gate is in very good condition however, on either side there is no wall, so it really serves no purpose except for appearance. The stone wall around this cemetery disintegrated over the years, and they still have not repaired it. The fact that you can walk right around the gate without even opening it explains why it is still in such good shape.
Great shadow, texture and lighting. Nice one!!

You wonder why money is not spent to preserve this type of stuff. Nice photo though Rick.

The wall has gone, yet the gate remains. They made that gate to last and it has. May it never lose its swing.

Love the pic. We have a lot of gates like that with no walls down here. Weird.

That's a truly interesting story. It sort of reminds me of the Bible verse about Jesus being the Gate for the Sheep- but a gate with no walls for protection is certainly NOT what He was talking about! Nice shot- I like the textrues you captured here.
